The engine is perky, soulful with the matching tone.... she handles solid and sturdy with no steering play. I can see why these are so popular with enthusiast across the globe.

I have a 2002tii - so a similar car with mechanical fuel injection.  They are super fun to drive.  The ti was never imported to the US, which is why I think I want one, LOL.

Good luck with it - it is a beauty.

Interesting... is it really worth that kind of money? Before I priced my car, I had a look at what I could find... people selling their cars always tend to see what the most they can get, people wanting to buy a car always look at what is the best they can buy at the cheapest price. I think that's why a lot of people fail at pricing cars correctly.

Looks like someone installed a one piece dash along with square light column cover (with the bulge). Didn't see a VIN or engine pics.

Cool, What vin decoder did you use?

You simply email your car's VIN to BMW Archives (info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com) and request their data on the car.  Catlincustoms' post is likely showing 100% of Archives' record.

If I was selling a ti, or probably any vintage car, in addition to the BMW Archives email, I'd probably show photos of the engine number (flat boss at rear of block, left side, just above the starter's nose), the chassis VIN (stamped into outer edge of right inner fender), riveted-on VIN tag (right front inner fender, just aft of the upper strut mount), and any other VIN locations (U.S.-spec cars, after 1968(?) also have the VIN on the rear edge of the left door and on a riveted-on tag on top of the steering column).

Regards,

Steve

Steve FYI check out the FB page w/the car on it - it has all those shots of the vin(s).

You are probably too smart to be on FB.  Me, I'm taking a quiz to see which pop star I am most like...

Thanks, Scott,

I wondered where Les found the VIN!  At least I know that FB = Facebook.  That's about as close as I've come to a Facebook account!

Best regards,

Steve

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
