Off the wall suggestion:  that rubber insert looks like a short length of air conditioning hose--small ID compared with the OD.  Find a one inch scrap and it might solve your problem, or failing that, measure the OD and ID of your insert and PM me--it might be the same as some scrap pieces of A/C hose I have somewhere on my workbench.

I've had to replace the socket inserts with some random hose.  It would stick to the spark plug, and when using an extension, would leave the socket on the spark plug, WAY down in the head of a civic.

 

I'm not a big fan of running spark plugs in and out of aluminum heads, and as such, by the time I got that figured out, my blood pressure was higher....

 

Hope you find that random chunk of hose that works for you
