Alternator upgrade - E30 318i 80A vs Tii setup

I am going to upgrade my alternator to 80 or 90A

The E30 318i /80A LIMA parts (12311312137 + 12311284306) are rare or expensive when new (compared to the standard ones)

I wonder if the Tii setup, the one with the separate U-bracket (11141257413) is a decent one. (can have that one second hand)

It does not look very stable because both supports are located near to each other.

Because I do not have the Tii cover I need to place both brackets on the same spot as shown in the picture attached.

any recommendations?

Have you considered getting a used e30 alternator and replacing the brushes?  Brushes and the regulator are the common wear issues, given the high mileage.  Fortunately, those are very inexpensive.  I went that route and the alternator tested to spec.  Bearings seem to be long-lasting too.

Sorry, don't know anything about the tii setup.

I wonder if the Smog pump hole in the late cover works for the Tii alt adjuster arm (as I have a Tii set up as well, with plans), and I noticed the extra hole when assembling the motor... Its about 1.5" in from the driver side of the cover, just above the oil pan.  Looks to be positioned right to me, compared to a tii cover.

I have an alternator of an E30 325i , it needs service. ( bushes regulator, bearing,...)

It is also a version without bushings so I 'll haveto buy another one.

That might be a good idea.

I discovered that I have a spare cover like that one.

The hole needs to get threaded before you can use it.

On the photo with the alternator one can see that the same cove is used.

So I wonder why the hole was not used to mount the alternator support.

It should already be threaded..  its the smog pump mount.

It may not let the alt swing out enough to tighten the belt?  But that hole is pretty much in the same place as the Tii cover..

My plan is to try and use a Tii cover for mounting a Rotrex supercharger.
