Mystery wiring harness

Always interesting when you have to work on a car that has had numerous hands on it since new, especially when it comes to wiring. I am resurrecting the 74 2002 that I rescued a couple of months ago. While I am having the 45 DCOE's rebuilt I am cleaning things up under hood. I have a wiring harness that is just hanging there. It is a light brown harness with 10 wires in it that stub out at various spots. It is clipped to the top of the brake linkage shroud. Don't know if something isn't working as the car is obviously not running at this time. If you get a chance take a look at your car and see if you spot it and what it's plugged into. Thanks!

Looks like the remains of the emission control harness--IIRC there used to be a row of vacuum operated switches along the firewall, and those terminals were connected to 'em.  If youtrace the harness and discover it completely unplugs from the car's main wiring harness, that's the proof.  Since the harness was used only on US cars, it was made separately from the main harness so the latter could be used on rest-of-the-world cars.  

 

My 73 had a similar setup, now long-gone.

It can all be removed except that the resistor wire for the ignition coil may run through there (mine did).  You can extract that and toss the rest.
