Mk1 flares and wheel size

Hey guys, I just bought a pair of mk1 flares and was wondering what wheel size to get. I was thinking of 15x8 et 0 or would that be to big for the flares? I think the turbo flares are a bit wider than the mk1's, so if anyone has them put them on just lemme know what you think, thanks.

I have mk1 flares waiting to go on so my experience is not first hand but here is what i've been able to gather from alot of digging... 

 

being that these flares require fabrication there is a bit of variation in fitment depending on how and where you cut the flair and the body, also there is a wide variety of "fitment" depending on what look you are going for. 

 

15x8 0 offset can work but will require some tire stretching and fender rolling and you'll still have very little clearance. You also run the risk of rubbing the inner fender well and steering effort is greatly increased with the wide wheel. 

 

15x7 0 offset with a nice meaty tire (225 seems the standard) is a good fit from what I've seen. Still requiring fender rolling depending on your suspension setup. 

 

I'm running a set of of 15x7 et12 bbs mahles with 225 tires and will be using spacers to get me near a 0 offset and flush with the fenders. 

 

Do some thread searches for flared cars and browse the wheel/tire fitment threads to see some members setups first hand.
