headliner fabric

Recommended Posts

The C-pillar pieces are sewn to the main headliner.  You might find someone parting out a car that could supply those pieces, unless the sunroof panel piece would be enough to take care of the job.  Headliners have been available new, unless that has changed recently.

I have some headliner pieces i would be willing to cut up for what you need. This was a new headliner for a sunroof car that was in the back of a parts car i bought.  unfortunately wermin had made themselves at home and ruined it for all but parts and pieces.  pm or email for details

What ever pieces you use will not match your headliner. You could use black vinyl like the A pillars at a fabric store.

i did ask a shop about replacing the c pillar pieces with material i have and the headliner would need to be removed. too bad because the c pillar pieces seem to the most suseptible to degradation, heat uv etc.  If anyone has replaced c pillar headliner pieces without removing the headliner let us know.

I did that. I like it better. My C-Pillars got ripped when doing some rust repair. I covered over it and did the parcel shelf at the same time. Being that my car is Sahara with tan interior, I like the contrast it gives. It's not perfect, but neither is the car.

that looks really good.  Looks like it could be done in original material or in black vinyl. I'm assuming the top seam was folded over and glued with 3m or similar weatherstrip adhesive.

apologies for the apparent hijack but this subject may be helpful to "deneb"  and others contemplating work on those c pillar pieces that crack and degrade over time.

thanks Gale! I got some textured black vinyl from Joann Fabrics. It's pretty close to the stock stuff on the A pillars. I used spray adhesive on the back of the vinyl and stuck it on, then folded the top over (reverse of A-pillar). I used a razor to trim it a bit better and then tucked the remaining material under the pinch welt. much better than what it was for about $10 in materials.

Thanks to all. I'm going to give up replacing the c-pillar fabric with headliner material. It makes sense that new headliner material would not match my 42 y.o. headliner. I've got some good choices - black vinyl, blue to match the package shelf, or even nylon fabric that is UV protected. The topic for me is breathing life into Doc Fjord  - see Mike Self's articles that mention this project.
