How to separate shift handle from selector once circlip is removed

How do you separate #10 from #11 once the circlip #16 is removed?  The reference pic is from the 4 speed later version pic in the referenced article.

Once circlip #16 is removed, pull #10 and #11 apart by hand.  They are friction held together by rubber bushings #13 and #14.

What Tsingtao said.  You may find it necessary to spray some lubricant into the shifter to break the rubber loose from the metal.

When pulling on the outer shift lever, point away from your face.  One thing to try is to put a screwdriver thru the bottom pin hole then step on it using both feet and pull upward.
