First time engine out

Once again, the FAQ delivers!. The excellent article on engine drop out the bottom gave me the confidence to try. I did the 5 speed swap earlier in the cars life so figured why not. Pretty much stock rebuild planned although I want to bump up the compression. Was running before the 2 year "life has other plans" slumber. Front end will be disassembled cleaned, engine mount reinforced and rebushed. Will know more about the shocks and springs when I get the grime off but the rears are Konis's. Must resist mission creep............

It's futile.  And anyway, you'll just kick yourself later when a strut insert blows and you have to take it all apart again.

Says he who's "just changing a clutch" right now...

HA!!! I know. It's a little easier since I'm staying stock. Would be worse if I was going to modify. A pic of the motor. Hoping to get it degreased tonight along with the front end. Snow outside is not helping my motivation on that front.

Mission creep is inevitable...you just have to know where to draw the line--perhaps at chrome-plating the subframe...hydrogen embrittlement, ya know ;-)...

Mission Creep.........I bought a Tii Brake booster.

After the call I ended up with a Complete Tii clone kit so I figured I'd build a fresh motor.........All this to match the BoosterIMG_6813.thumb.JPG.35f639ec14e2fcb2b0c51d1c72260fe9.JPG

It warmed up enough to pressure wash. It would appear the block was replaced at some point. No VIN between the X's and I think the numbers in the photo attached indicate a manufacture date of 1987.  I think the other numbers indicate it is a 2 liter but not sure on the rest. The Tii intake has a 72 cast on it. Where do I find the ID number for the head? I am thinking I will need to remove the intake to find it. All the other VIN tag's are present and match.
