Rain Gutter Trim (source, FYI)

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I had been looking for both left and right gutters for a while. I knew the right side was available from a few spots (for about $110usd) but I could never find the left side. I was told it was NLA.

BMW Canada apparently has 10 of the left side in stock, 9 now, I guess. I got mine, so I wanted to share the info with the community. With the exchange rate, I think it might be worth it for you guys.

Here's where I ordered mine:

BMW West Island (514) 683-2000

51135450112: $116.76 cad (~$ 87.20usd)

51135450113: $110.41 cad (~$ 82.42usd)

good luck,

Anthony

Also check with your local dealer.  These are back in stock, at least temporarily.  That means you can get them at your local dealer with no shipping, and if they arrive bent the dealer will replace them.

So Andrew, do you have any recommendations or tips for installing them. I was standing over my turbo just yesterday, trying to raise the courage to put them on without bending them. I will research the matter further on our 2002 FAQ, however, they look so pristine and Virginal I was worried about them.

Best regards, Peter

Peter, I'd ask Jim Gerock, I think he has done it successfully in his wannabe 1600ti build thread.

Ok, I guess my post wasn't helpful :P and the left side is easier to find than I've been told.

They were actually N/A for quite awhile then about 3 months ago they came back to the light and the dealers were able to get them within 3 days

I've done this a few times. To install it is nice to have at least two sets of hands.

Line it up next to the car, then rotate it up 180 degrees and work at getting the curve started first by getting the trim piece just inside the gutter, inverted up, and then, as you rotate down, get that curve clipped in, then work your way down the straight parts, towards the rear and down towards the hood.

Getting the trim off, and I have had success, take out the side window(s) !, then using a nice crisp right angled piece of wood that will catch the thin edge of the trim, maybe 1" by 4" or 6" (or something similar and long enough), starting at the rear most spot you can access from inside the car, at the side rear window, work to unclip the trim off the gutter, getting underneath the trim at the slight return, edge, underneath the gutter, tap, tap, tapping with the wood. Also nice to have a couple of sets of hand here too. Don't force it!, Don't bend it! just work at unclipping it from the gutter. Work your way toward the curve, then the same from the hood up towards the curve, usually just using your hands to rotate the trim around and off the gutter, and the finally, if you been successful to this point, without bending of kinking it, the curve usually releases with a little persuasion.

good luck, it is tricky, I also have ruined a couple.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
