What rims are these?

..'wobble nuts'- that sounds painful.  Do you need nut stiffeners, or do they settle out on their own?

OP, you answered your own question-  they're Borbet, probably originally for an Alfa if Ed's right and they're 4x98,

or an E21 if they're 4x100, based on an et of 22.  Search this board for more chatter- they're pretty popular.

Cleaned up those wheels will look great on an '02

Wobble Nuts... wasn't that the name of Toby and Ray's grunge-band? B)

Here's a google image of a wobble nut.  For use on a 4x98 wheel on 4x100 bolt spacing

Thanks for the replys Ed. I'll have to get a set of wobble nuts then, if they are 4x98. Have not measured yet.

TobyB: I know that they are Borbets, as you creatively pointed out. To specify my question - what kind of Borbets are they?

Uugh. The idea that someone makes those to allow an incorrect PCD wheel to be used makes me feel sick. The uneven forces that will be imparted to those bolt holes on old alloy wheels that may not be quite concentric with the hub... *shudder*

+1

Certainly not recommended by any rim manufacturer...certainly not permitted by the German TUV.  I cannot tell you that I know anyone who died as a direct result of wobble nuts, but with 8 zillion 4 x 100 rims in the world, as well as the ability to correctly re-drill most 4 x 98 rims to a 4 x 100 pattern, why take the risk?

Regards,

Steve

After some more studying of the rims, I think I might have deciphered the information in the center. And the rims are Borbet Selzer 7Jx15H2 ET 23 4x108. To bad these don't fit. Think they would have looked nice.

Cheers for all the feedback!
