Saddle door cards for 73

So according to 2 pretty good sources, these are now no longer available.  What to do?

Find used ones...saddle interiors were used on Sahara, Nevada, Agave and Malaga cars, so there should be plenty.  And if the cardboard backing is damaged, Aardvark makes plywood replacements that are a lot longer-lived and easy to install.  

 

AFAIK those saddle door panels haven't been available for many years.  Be advised, though, there are two slightly different "saddle" interior vinyls--one that is slightly mottled and used between '68 and sometime in late '71 or early '72, and a slightly different shade that is a constant color throughout.  That was used through the end of roundie production in 1973.

And there are two primary "challenges" to finding good or better door cards:  (1.) speaker holes; and (2.) deteriorating "chrome" on the decorative elements.  I placed "chrome" in quotation marks because it is chrome applied to a plastic base, a base that is itself part of the door card.  There are, however, lots of threads regarding ways to address disintegrating door card chrome.  The speaker holes?  Well, that's up to you!

Have you checked with Dave Varco at Aardvarc? Has some without mylar listed in the website.

I have a used un-cut set from my car.  The "chrome" needs to be refinished.  Also have a set of Dave's wooden panels.  Need to clean them up and inspect for any damage before listing them.

 

Only reason I'm selling is that BMW finally did a run of the early black panels ... a year after I placed the order.
