Good Electrical Shop?

I've finally got my car running. Yay! It's still on stands and I really need to get that bad thermostat swapped out before I can finish troubleshooting her before a test drive. But a few things I've noticed- the turn signals do not blink and the hazard button was in the glove box along with another relay. Also there are a couple of connectors exposed (I have the parts beneath the steering column taken off) just dangling there, not connected to anything.

 

Electrical is really one of my weak skills and I'm hoping to find a trustworthy decent shop in the Bay Area to take my car to. I live in Livermore, but I can do a little driving if it's not horribly far. Does anyone have any experiences with any good shops in the area that will deal with our vintage electrical systems?

Once the car is driving, I'll give them a call. Sound like the kind of shop I need. I'm sure it's not a big job I have, but I don't want someone dicking around for hours trying to "discover" the problem.

You might wanna buy a new hazard switch, they tend to have issues. Most likely associated with you turn signals not working. You can keep your old one as a spare or sell it. If you need help figuring out your wiring, try Ralph Hoch at Import Specialities in Walnut Creek. He's a great mechanic and an honest guy. I've known him for over 25 years. He's also listed in the BA02 toolbox but he's recently moved from 2nd Ave to Mayhew Way on the border of Pleasant Hill.

Sweet! Walnut Creek is just 20 minutes away from me! I'm on hiatus with the work on my car as I have to study for a work exam. (The car is the carrot in front of the cart.) I don't know much about what's going on with the electrical, but the car did come with 2 hazard switches, so there's a good possibility that the old one bonked out and maybe the new one works, so the problems aren't caused by the hazard switch. OR perhaps the problem was never the hazard switch at all and a new one was purchased as a hail Mary. I have not checked either with any meters.

 

Once I get the car running and rolling out of the garage, if I can't figure out the issues myself, I'll give Ralph a call and see what he has to say. Thanks for the excellent tip!
