Yours is definitely solid too! Very interesting, here's an interior shot of mine, needs to be cleaned up after I get it back from Ben, and I have a kit from Esty to redo the carpet at that point too. I never use the radio, it sort of worked when I got the car first, but the car is still 6v. I usually carry a small bluetooth box.

won't the original carpet clean up? Then just use some coco mats to hide the warn floor parts. Looks too good to replace from that pic. Presumably it's a '66 car - you've got the sans serif logo on the wheel. '65 was the last year of the serif version. But then again you have the early wood grain effect dash which also changed for the 66 model year. Cross over, or non original steering wheel badge?

Yes it's a 66. I haven't tried to clean it up honestly, I just wanted to replace it and start fresh. I probably will get coco mats though. I'm pretty sure the steering wheel is original, the external badges are the same san serif. Are your pics from the Corniches?

Ah, refreshing a few things I see, David.

Like Nick said about the carpeting, I'd also keep / refresh what ya can, as far as existing anything. Mine had already been neglected and changed beyond the point of no return. An original-ish 1600 is a rare bird. Ha, I guess any 4 door 1600 NK is rare, as you and Nick are the only other guys that have'em. I know of one other, but it's off of the radar at this time.

Good luck with getting Greenie back on the road......Team 1600/4.....all three of us!

You guys are making me regret decisions to potentially change the carpet, Esty did such a nice job though :) Yeah it's still in the car right now and other items are are being restored, including the numbers motor. Ben convinced me to leave a lot of things alone as well and keep them as much in original condition.

I've seen a couple of others for sale in France in recent years and Guido in Holland also picked one up in France (to go with his gazillion other NKs). Here we are in bavaria back in 2011

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
