Tires for BMW E65

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm going to replace the old winter tires on my BMW E65 and dunno what to choose. Mine are Michelin Pilot Alpin of 245/55R17 size. I've looked through a bulk of customers' reviews and different online shops, for instance, http://www.tirendo.ie/giga-tyres.ie

But I couldn't decide what brand to buy. Mostly all suggest Michelin or Continental. But I wanted smth new, that I didn't own before.
Can anyone tell me his thoughts about this? What will you buy for such a car as mine?
Many thanks.

I think it's hard to go wrong with Michelin. Have a look at tirerack.com for reviews.

We don't have "winter" here, so I was running Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the E90.

I will say that they are AWFUL winter tires ;-)

I've heard good things about Pirelli winter tires...

Good luck  with your search!

Cheers,

Ray

Stop reading this! Don't you have anything better to do?? :P

Hi all once again!
I'd like to thank you for the recommendations. Due to them I've chosen Pirelli and don't regret. Awesome grip, low noise emission and the thing I adore most - aquaplaning! Really worth buying ones.
BTW, my husband bought bridgestone  for me to have a spare tyre set and I managed to test them as well.

So I must admit that they are pretty good as Chamonix72 told, and can be highly competitive with Pirelli. There are the price difference and personal likings but both options are reliable.
I hope these tips can be useful for smb who is looking for the same item. ;)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
