Bill Spornitz scored a parts car that he and Terry examined today.  Some things will work, but I still need a nose piece and both front fenders.  Rest of my sheet metal is in decent shape.  Will appreciate any leads.  Bill

Ti/SA update:

1.  Got the steering wheel back from Bruce Crawford (http://www.hardwoodclassicsltd.com/www.hardwoodclassicsltd.com/Welcome.html) and it looks great.  He fixed the little "wows" in a couple of the spokes and refinished the wood.  Pictures below.

2.  Carpet set is on order from Esty Carpets (http://www.estycarpet.com/).  It will be salt and pepper similar to what was in Byron Sanborn's 2002 Turbo, winner of a trophy at Pebble Beach last year.  Some pictures are on her web site.  My original carpets were physically intact for the most part but very dark in places in spite of cleaning efforts, and they smell strongly of mildew.  I'll hang on to them, but a new set will be much better, easier on the nose and the eye.

3.  It's looking like the one-size-up pistons from Bill Spornitz will fit, so we're set there.  Will get new valves and springs.  Crank is good but will get a slight grind.  Cam looks fine, as does the oil pump.

4.  Still looking for a good e-brake rubber boot--see picture in my 6 March post.  Will appreciate anyone looking through their stuff for it.  Alternatively, if anyone has recommendation on a way to make a repair, I'd like to hear about it.

5.  Ditto on the front nose piece and R & L fenders.

6.  I'd like to hear from anyone about recommendations for places to get anodizing on the outside window frames.

That's about all for now.  Thanks.  Bill

How bad off is your dashboard ? and what are your plans? see attached link.

https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/196064-dash-board-options-for-first-generation-nks-dash-cap-or-custom-aluminum-dash/

The talented Forrest Koogle is willing to either make a new aluminum dash or make a well made dash cap.

Would appreciate your ideas and input

Thanks- Joseph

The dash pad is quite good, but has one crack to the left of the speaker grill.  The dash itself is a plastic piece that has a couple cracks.  I've seen the work done by Just Dashes on their website.  Is that something Forrest would be doing?

My flat early dash ( 67 TiLux)  has Multiple cracks. So Forrest has the skills and does good work. Many of us have dashes in poor condition.

Once i get my car down there and a decent dash that Forrest can work from then we can come up with a solution. Trying to gather as much interest as possible.

So happy you are restoring your TiSa and getting it back on the Road and Track !

I'm bumping this thread for a few requests.

1.)  Does anyone have a lead on a front nose piece and both front fenders for a '65 NK?  Mine are pretty rusted.

2.)  How about a current paint formula for Bristol?

Otherwise, not too much new to report on the TiSA.  Terry's busy with racing through the summer.

Hey guys. I recently got these carbs in a parts trade with ClayW. After googling the model number just now.. I believe these may be of interest to you. From what I have found, they belong on a 1800 TI/SA. Weber 45DCOE 15/16 matching.

I may use them on a motor build for my 2002, but feel that maybe they should stay with their ilk. Unless they aren't important to anyone.  Then I may use them. I have some, maybe all of the original linkage parts as well. The manifolds are dated 1970. So they are 2.0 specific.

Thoughts?

Update on the TiSA #133:  Not a whole lot of action since Terry's busy with racing season.  I was able to locate and buy some NOS body parts (nose piece and both front fenders) from Ben in NJ.  Contact was made after I posted on the E9 board looking for leads.  He's had them in his basement for many years, and it was kind of him to contribute them to this project.  Boxing and shipping was quite a project--accomplished with much effort on Ben's part.  They are scheduled to arrive at Racecraft tomorrow.

Thought I'd provide an update on #133.  No major progress, but Terry's racing season finishes after next weekend's 25 Hours of Thunderhill, so we should have some news over the winter.

My e-brake boot had a tear that I found difficult to repair with various glues, etc.  I came across a product called Sugru that seemed promising.  Available on Amazon in different colors.  It comes as a putty-like material that turns into rubber.  Before and after pictures below.

No word yet from Mr. Richards in UK on the bucket seats.  If anyone over there knows him or has a way to contact him, I'd really appreciate an update.  A pretty beat up original bucket sold at the Ladenburg Auction last weekend, but I didn't find out about it until the day before and had nightmares about getting it shipped back.

Carbs are at Pierce Manifold getting refurbed.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
