BMW 1800 TISA

When I had mine at Legends in 2014 Klaus from BMW Classic said the factory knew of 25-30 cars left. Here's a shot from Monterey 2016. We had 3 together, which, before Bill's car surfaced, was all we knew of on the west coast.

I can think of ten or so in the US off the top of my head. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more unknown in the US since Hoffman is known to have imported at least the last twenty or so.

My Dad's near Berkeley CA.

Pat and Clint deWitt's in Sacramento CA.

Tom Graham's in Marin CA.

Steve Walker's in Oregon.

Peter Sliskovitch (Coupe King) has a white one in SoCal.

Carl Nelson reportedly has a couple in deep storage in SoCal.

Rick Meining's in Colorado.

Peter Stillwill in PA.

Arthur Porter's old art car one somewhere in the US. Art and a couple of others know where it is.

Rhett Hubertus in TX, he works for Terry Sayther. Rhett's is the one that was in an old Roundel with an S38 in it. Rhett reinstalled an M10

And Bill's, which was previously unknown to the unofficial TiSA registry.

From an earlier post on this thread:

Nick, I've looked through the UK registry and some auction sites from the past to compile a list of VIN's.

If anyone has information on other cars, it could be added.

008, 013, 054, 060, 074, 103, 107, 108,

133, 146, 155, 176, 181, 182, 183, 184,

191, 193, 194, 197.  (159 added to list after I posted thread)

Terry Forland says he's been told by someone at BMW that 25 are known--26 adding #133--so that leaves six VIN's not on my list.

There's a number of known TiSAs in Europe as well...

I don't remember the number of the old Scudderia Bavaria '91 FIA Historic race car, but this one that Jackie Oliver has been racing competitively and maintained by Laranca Racing is for sale...

There are quite a number of TiSAs being raced in Europe...

I know that 181 and 182 reside in Munich. 181 is owned by Stephan Propsting. While 182 is owned by one of the guys at BMW Classic. BMW Classic also owns a white one as well as far as I know.

Then there's those in here...

I'm surprised but happy that 995182 went to BMW Classic - sold it to a guy from San DIego mid to late 1980s.  After reading the posts, thought it might have been Carl Nelson but I've seen no info re his stored cars.

I cannibalized 995177 ~1972 - it was in an auto salvage yard in LA that specialized in German cars - I recall seeing a beautiful 904.  Anyway 995177 had body damage - I bought the short block after my crank broke in Bakersfield.  I subsequently went back and bought the Halda rally computer and really trick shoulder lap seat belt set that clipped into a big chrome omega shaped bar over the transmission hump.  995177 also had the big 100 L gas tank.  I assume it was eventually crushed. :(:(:(

Terry found this site and sent it to me.  Last entry is from 2012, but it shows lots of metal restoration work in Germany on Ti/SA 995008.  Does anyone have some more up to date information?

Some that have replied to that thread are acquaintances of mine, I can ask them if they've seen any updates of the restoration of 008.

Got some good news from Bryan Purves today.  He's built the bases for 10 seats and believes he has found a good source for the red and black vinyl.  He has orders currently for six seats, so PM me if you're interested and I can give you his contact info.  I don't have information on price at this time.

#995133 body has gone to the blaster.

More later....

Bill, my dad and I will be tearing into his TiSA soon and would love to have confirmation in the availability of the oxblood vinyl.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
