BMW 1800 TISA

Stephan: It is amazing that BMW Classic et al didn't  think to get the registration number  M-VK514 for their own use!

  How many TISA's does BMW Classic/AG have- I heard 2 ? I don't know the VIN's . I know there was one sold from their collection in 2011 (?) at a Bonham's Auction.

I think I have a pretty complete list of VIN's now. I don't know the VIN of the TISA being restored at The Werk Shop currently....

I have a TiSA supplement pdf that someone here on the FAQ did, and an original that my dad and I picked up off of eBay a while back. I’ll see what I can do to post the pdf here later today.

Was working on the windows for #133.  Fronts both are pretty good, but both rears have lots of scratches too deep for me to remove with basic glass polish.  Anyone have a lead on right and left rear windows in excellent shape?  Also, any opinions on whether scratches can be taken out?  Thanks.

I have 2 sets of doors and it looks like one set of rear door panes already out of the doors ! The free pane passenger might have 2 light scratches .... hard to tell in the photos !

I’ll happily donate them . PM and I can try and FaceTime the panes for you . The other sets are in complete doors so I’d have to bring them in and disassemble them ....

Looks like TiSA 995197 will be auctioned by Gooding Co. at Amelia Island on March 8.  Event begins at 1100 and is viewable as a live stream.  Gooding charges buyer's premium of 12% of the first $250k and 10% on remainder, so that will be added to hammer price.  Not much info available from the auction company yet, but should see more in the next week or so.

The car used to belong to Arthur Porter in CO. He did the restoration and added the fancy graphics.

It will be VERY interesting to see what it brings.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
