Turns out we do have a fuel pump.  Pictures attached.  It will need rebuilding and re-plating.  Terry thought the new one(s) available were slightly different in configuration with regard to input and output attachments.  A VW rebuild kit has been ordered.  I have a listing in Parts Wanted in case someone has a good NOS example.  Bill

I also have this fuel pump that looks very much like yours.  The inlets and outlets look like they are set up the same way yours are.  Unfortunately, it's not a Pierburg, it's a BCD Torino, but it worked fine on my ti.  I did rebuild it using a VW kit, so if you are going to stick with yours and can't find the correct rebuild kit, let me know, I think I saved the box with the part number info.

I rebuilt my gooseneck pump with the VW rebuild kit and found the new return spring was too strong and increased the output pressure so much it flooded the carbs ( pushed fuel past the needle seat). If using a new VW rebuild kit, I suggest re-using your old spring.

Carbs and alternator done.

Sounds like we may have found some rockers in Europe.  Terry chasing those down.

Bryan Purves tells me progress on the seats is advancing.  Sounds like he's making 10.  I don't know how many are reserved at present.

Nice looking carbs and NK exclusive alternator! Where did you get it rebuilt?

Wonder why the fan on the NK alternators is different than the open fan of the 1600 and 2002's. I had one of those and sent it to another FAQ'r.

How do you tell if it's NK-specific?  Is it just that detail in the fan?  Both of my cars have that, in spite of the red one having an engine from a late US-spec 2002.

This one happens to be Ti and TiSA specific because it's a 6-Volt alternator. The fan detail is due to the year and age, maybe till early '68.

I absolutely LOVE seeing the proper looking rubber rings for the TiSA velocity stacks! I've been wondering what to do for the missing ones on my dad's TiSA for years.

Guest Registry?

Just curious whether there is a registry of TISAs in North America?

I'd be really interested in how many are left - I've heard rumors that some were repatriated back to Germany

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
