15th Annual 020202 Show, Swap and Drive Event

Recommended Posts

It's that time of year again... The 15th Annual 020202 Show, Swap and Drive Event. February 4th, 9am-2pm, West Seattle at the Don Armeni Boat Ramp parking lot.

Stu might have sold his car, but he's still bringing donuts. And we've added something new this year: A SWAP MEET.

So wash the car, gather parts from the garage, and stop by the cash machine before heading over. I'll be bringing a 10x10 pop-up tent for cover in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

To get added to the PNW Group email distribution list, or for questions, please contact Stu directly at spkastner@gmail.com

Cheers, James

PS. I'll be posting what I'm selling in reply to this post.

Here's a list of stuff - so far - that I plan on bringing:

  • 4 14" bottle cap rims with decent Yokohama Avid T4 tires, with center caps and lug nuts - old and used, slightly better than roller condition
  • 4 13" basket weave rims with center caps and Sumitomo tires - both rims and tires are in excellent, like new condition
  • Bher AC unit, including center console - not sure if it works but most parts are there
  • Late model steering wheel - great condition, with extra horn pad
  • Misc console panels, both short and long
  • Roundie grills - one short, one deep headlight opening
  • 2 sets of front early bumper corners - pre 72, no rubber strips, driver and passenger sides
  • 1 full 72/73 front bumper - center and 2 corners
  • Misc bumper overiders - pre-73Misc dist caps and rotors - new, never used
  • Valve cover
  • Glove box tray
  • 2 ignition coils - 1 blue, 1 black
  • Early roundie right hand side turn signal/washer stalk
  • Drivers side ProCar seat with adapter and rails

I'll bring original, Zender, rear spoiler, fjord painted, and a upper rear seat black upholstery, early 70's I believe, good shape. I'll rummage around and see if I have anything else, of value,,, got a lot of 02 junk, probably not worth hauling out there, I do have some 14" wheels, maybe I'll bring one to show, have the other three, requires spacers, which are part of the deal. Like the steel 5 series ones, all the holes around the perimeter, but these were GTI snow rims, sold my tire rack, 6x14, something like ET35. Photo below, if interested, really interested, drop me a note, no tires, just rims, spacers and two end caps - modified to fit these rims at rear, fronts work,

If anyone has any Tobacco (early) armrests they want to sell I'd love you forever.

I'll be bringing a set of DCOE45 horns I don't need that someone can have for free if they need a set. They've got some patina on them, but a patient person could probably polish it out.

I'm in need of a 74-76 rear bumper, without deep scratches.  Corrosion / oxidation is ok.  Just could enough to allow re-finishing.

Thank

I have a late bumper in Issaquah. It's in OK shape. Yours for $20 bucks. I think it has some scratches on the bottom. I will not be bringing it due to size

Can't promise my 71 02 will make it (lacking working wiper motor right now) but I'll try to be there with my lot of 2002 parts.

Someone please bring a early (71) wiper motor I can purchase!

I have a late wiper motor if you can make that work. I don't plan on bringing it tomorrow because I still need to pull it...

For everyone else, I won't be bringing parts tomorrow (other than those who asked for them). I don't feel like loading up my car and trying to sell stuff out of the trunk in a downpour... Maybe next time! But I'll be there!

roadhog thanks - interested, perhaps we can talk in the future when you pull it.

I somehow found the energy to load up my SUV with an assortment of parts... so I will be there and I'll be having a trunk sale in lieu of bringing my 02. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Looks like ice in Portland is going to keep me home this year, quite sadly.

Rather be safe than wreck my beloved.

P.S. If those selling parts could please post a picture of all the parts that are unsold after event on here, I'd be potentially a very interested candidate!;)

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
