Electric conversion anyone?

The motor in the InstaGram picture appears to be a Curtis Dual Motor Kit 72V-144V 165 HP & 188 ft-Lbs Torque Peak.  It's scary to think what a 2002 will do with all that instant torque.

I've had a '69 2002 sitting in storage waiting for it's turn, dropping an M20 in it.  The car was originally a test bed for an electric setup back in 1990 when my friend and his buddies were designing a controller.  Acid batteries in the trunk and under the hood, DC motor with an adapter for the stock trans.  Looked completely stock from the outside except for the vents formed in the trunk lid.  Given the advances in technology I think an EV 2002 would be kinda cool.

1)  Expected watt-hour/mile consumption,

2)  Battery type,

3)  KWh for selected battery pack.

4)  Expected battery weight to support 100-120 miles range.

I’m with you, an electric 02 would be so much fun. I see companies like Moment Motors, EV West, and Electric Classic Cars post teasers and random photos of 2002s, but I’ve never seen a converted car. It will be cool to see them become more common - someone’s gotta be the guinea pig I guess.

indeed ... and that is me ... 

that is my car ... and will be our first (of many, right?!) '02

 

we are 1000% committed and moving forward

we have all 2D/3D layouts done

custom boosterless brake brackets done ...
