My Car is too fast for the door mirror

Driver's side door mirror on my 75 folds back at speed. Does NE1 know of a fix. Slotted screw between base and mirror will not move so tightening or dissassemble/add washers under spring is not an option

until my Rabbit back together, and the salt is gone, so I can drive the 02. Every time I stepped on it, a piece of the dash kept flying off!

1. Loosen set screw that holds mirror to the mounting base that's fastened to the car. Remove mirror.

2. tighten 10mm nut that holds the mirror flag to the chrome base. Don't tighten too much or you won't be able to adjust the mirror or you'll break the pot metal mounting base.

3. Replace mirror. Tighten set screw so the mirror won't fall off while you're driving (ask me about this!) Optional extra: substitute an Allen head set screw (hardware store) for the slot head screw so you can tighten it better and it'll be easier to remove the next time.
