Exhaust options

One of the winter projects will be replacing the cobbled together exhaust. After a good. It of research I can really only find 3 options: the IE stainless system (which is out of stock), the Ansa sport system which apparently needs some help to fit on big bumper cars and a custom system. The custom is likely not in the cards as the exhaust work I've had done locally in the past has been both poor and expensive. Are there other options I'm missing? If not, what's a good source for the Ansa? It would be going on a 75 with the small IE fiberglass bumper.

Thanks

A stOck system is fourth option.:)

W&N is one source for parts and pieces.

I now disagree with some of the timing advice I have given in the past.  I misinterpreted the distributor curves in the Blue Book.

I've switched from using ported-vacuum to manifold, with better results.

I apologize for spreading misinformation.

Don't laugh...but I've had a Midas system on my car for over 20 years and it's doing just fine--no problems with it re rusting, banging against something etc, and the stock mounts (rubber rings and plastic spacers in back, tranny-mounted clamp in front) fit just fine.  And yes, I drive the car about 5-6k miles a year in all weather except snow/road salt.

I've worn out several sets of rubber rings and plastic spacers over the years, but the exhaust system soldiers on.  And it's got a lifetime warranty!  You'll need to check to see if it's still available, but I'll bet it is.

Just another thought.

This depends on what you want.  The stock system is available still.  Some want more sound and maybe better flow for high performance engines.  The IE is a good one.  TEP sells a complete system, well complete minus tubing.  So mufflers and tips.  I personally went custom.  Find a good shop and then have them put it all together.  One nice thing is it can be made to fit perfectly.  My old system was at an angle and off center in the exhaust cutout.  The new rear exhaust was perfect.  Plus it comes out far enough not to get black soot on my chrome bumper..lol...

I'm in the same boat myself.  I've been talking to Blunttech about going with the OE factory setup, but there is a hefty shipping fee to get the parts from Germany.  Plus, it's not stainless, so rust is always a possibility.

I'd like something a little more free flowing and a little more exhaust note would be welcome. The last exhaust system I had dabbed locally wound up with the muffler installed backwards despite the enormous arrow cast in to it!

another option if one not looking for exotic/ loud sound, more of OEM sound and price friendly could go with ANSA down pipe, resonator and OEM muffler.

OEM muffler part # 18121245523 for only 75-76 year models and equivalent muffler by ANSA part # BW0247

I have had ANSA muffler on my car for last 4 years, works fine and no rust, but I noticed a bit louder after year 2

IE sent me a note saying "3-4 weeks" till the new shipment of exhausts arrive. My guess is double that. I'd keep checking back.

WN sells a very nice looking Sebring repro exhaust but it's pricey.

Those are the two I'm considering.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
