Rebuilt solex phh40 carbs

So here is a pic of my rebuilt solex carbs. I was tempted to spring for the side draft webers but I thought I would give these old school babies a chance first before I dropped another 1k.

Back in the day I just remember pulling over every 50km to adjust them so hopefully with the new jets and seals I won't be doing that.

The original solex carburetors work fine. I ran them on my BMW 2000 CS for many years, I never had any problems with them. My 2002 TII has them, and carburets excellently. Mine do leak fuel out if you let them sit though, as the seals are dried. The performance improvement from the Weber's is minimal, and nice if you're obsessed. I think you're choosing the original carburetors is excellent.

The carbs will fit, but not so much air cleaner. I believe original ti case had a dent in it. But then you need linkage...

Setup appears to from NK of some sort. Can't remember if shortie air snorkels were factory for some application.

Any more info on those shorty snorkels? I've seen just a handful with those. Both my setups have the long snorkels.
