74tii Part Out

Nathan

I am very critical of those who part out cars because of the rarity of our beloved 02"s. That said I have a 74tii that started its life on the east coast, moved to Washington State and for the last 9 years has been sitting in field rotting and providing a home for mice. The car is a corroded, rusty mess, however there are many salvageable parts that I would like to see go to a good homes.

Uncracked windshield

Uncracked rear glass + a second rear window with defrost resistance wiring

Door glass is all intact.

Once the rear 1/4 glass comes out there will be B pillar hinges and finishers

Hood is in reasonable shape with typical rust at the perimeter rolled edges. The hood chrome is perfect except for extensive patina

Trunk bonnet is in similar condition to the hood

Center console is fine

Both black arm rests are in great shape with the clip and bezel for the passenger side.

As far as I can tell the car was not wrecked. The nose is in very good shape. Come clip it if you want it.

Front fenders are in surprising good shape. They are still on the car but do not have the typical rust found and may have been replaced at some point in the car's life.

Headlight buckets have a heavy patina. I plan to have them powder coated silver. Add to this Ireland Engineering's headlight rebuild kit and they would be very useable. I also have the "unobtanium" black Hella light rings. They need to be repainted and one is missing one of the three retainer tabs.

The rear seats are probably worth recovering. The springs and frames are rusted but salvageable. You have to get past the mice stench....

Front seat belts are rusty and with heavy patina but the inertia mechanisms seem to work. I think these could be cleaned up

Rear (square) lights are worth reusing with new seals. One chrome trim ring is very good, the other needs to be rechromed

Front blinkers are very decent and reusable with new seals

Dash has typical cracks but can be saved

Since all these parts are large I am not interested in trying to ship them unless you can talk me into it.

Please text 206 681 6831 or pm if interested. I live in Bellevue, WA. I don't have prices in mind. I will be very reasonable. Just want this stuff to help make someone's project a reality. I will be happy to take photos of anything of interest.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
