Jim,

No it's all metal frame no openings. Yeah probably would be easier just to drill the lock cylinder. After discussing it, I regret we decided we are going to sell it. We decided to remodeling the house and move, I'm not going to have the extra money to put into it. I'm going to update my posting and put it up for sale here and some other sites.  I hope who ever buys her will post photo's when she's finished.

I bought a MG a while back. It had been sitting 20 years or so. The trunk would not open either. I went threw a laundry list of tricks I found on line including removing a reverse light and making a special tool to pop the trunk mechanism from the inside. I ended up drilling out the push button/keyhole area. It was ridiculously tough and ruined the whole trunk latch. At this point I could work the thing with a screw driver. Still no luck. It ended up being a very very very stuck trunk seal. It had bonded to the trunk lid over the years and had me thinking the key was wrong or something in the mechanism was not operating correctly. I used a large screw driver while pushing the button and it popped right up. Felt like a fool but was quite excited at the same time. May be worth try , just try not to booger it up.

So I finally found a locksmith here in AZ who new something about BMW. He actually had owned 2 classic BMW himself many years ago. We were amazed at what we found in the trunk. He immediately pointed out. "You have the original owner manual, Owners guide, jack and tool kit" After inspecting the owner manual, I found John Johns old hand written papers on what the car has. This is pretty amazing and exciting to me.

Those sunglasses.....what is the story on them? They look like something I'd wear.

Also, do you have dates on any of those handwritten documents?

What is going on with that right side shock tower that requires two pieces of rubber to house the shock?

some cars

some motorcycles

some airplanes

some surfboards

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
