Ok, Any Tricks on Engine Mounts

Had to replace the engine mount under the oil pan since the other one just disintegrated like cornbread, was able to prop up the engine and switch out the mount.  

 

Now I can't for the life of me, how to get the engine mount plate align back to the 3 engine mounting points.  Was able to re-tighted the  driver side back into place but that is about it.

 

Is there anything I am missing here in doing this? Anything else I need to loosen in order to get the mounts correctly align up?

Make sure the tang in the driver side mount is in the slot on the subframe bracket, if it isnt you likely have the motor misaligned and the passenger side mount wont bolt in.  If the driver side mount tang is in the slot, try this;  loosen the driver and passenger side mounts.  place a jack under the oil pan with a heavy piece of plywood between the jack and the pan and just take the weight off the mounts.  this should give you enough room to install the bolts in the holes on the subframe.   once all the fasteners are installed let the jack down to put the weight back on the mounts and tighten everything to recommended torques.

Ok, Day Two.

 

Tried the recommendations and the result are now the engine is off both mounts.  The motor is off about 1/2" ahead of the first mounting hole, I tried to pull the motor back to align it up but it moves forward when I go down to bolt it in

 

I don't know what is pushing it around off it's location, looked all over and it seems to be clear everywhere. Should I unbolt the trans brace (5 speed = 2002Haus horse shoe or the exhaust?

If your driveshaft is connected, I'd say there is a driveshaft problem.  There should be no thrust to move the engine as described.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

This has worked for me.

1.  Make sure the drivers-side bolt is at or above the slot.

2.  Use a guide to align the passenger-side mount, as the engine is lowered.  Before the mount is seated insert the rear allen-head bolt.     Lower more and tighten rear bolt (more, but not completely).

3.  You should be able to remove the guide and replace with bolt.

 

Edit: I just realized that the limiter should be in-place while you are aligning.

 

4.  Adjust limiter to spec and tighten all bolts.

I'm with Jimk something is pushing it forward try loosening the trany mount it may be forcing things forward. Also I always start with the mounts loose just hanging on the fasteners on both the engine and body side and every thing should seat with just a good shove as appropriate.

Re-reading your posts I believe you are trying to bolt to the engine after bolting to the subframe.  Not common practise.    Bolt to engine first.

 

Your 2x6 method may be the problem, as you have no way of "rocking" engine to help alignment.  Support from above through the forward eyelet would be best.    There are a few threads on raising the engine from above.
