To Squirt or not

Have been scouring the net trying to figure out what to do with the EFI conversion, but hoping someone can give me a little more insight to help make my decision.

Have collected EDIS and 318 EFI bits for my car and at first was going to simply get the Bosch injection from the e30 working with the EDIS (megajolt etc) but as I want to add a turbo to the engine started thinking maybe it would be better to buy a MS set up. But as I am trying to live by the KISS principle on this car the tuning curves I have been reading seem quite daunting. This isn't going to be a race car just something I can go out and tear up the mountain roads so wondering if there is a better option for me - I realize that nothing is going to be simply plug and play, but want to keep the time in the drivers seat maxed and not tuning the entire time.

Will the Bosch system deal with boost well, or should i get past that point and start locking down an EFI system

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing your ideas

I recently completed a Megasquirt 3x turbo setup with a 318 manifold. PM me if you would like pick my brain. Also, I do not think the Bosch system can manage fuel tables to increase fuel under boost. There are great EFI options out there, I chose megasquirt for price and features and a pretty expansive community out there willing to help.

Thanks guys. I love the idea of MS but as my build has evolved it seems that the hardest part is balancing life with the build, and didn't want to spend all my time tuning when life calls - aka the wife and kids BUT mostly the wife lol

Appreciate the offer to help, will look further into the MS forums and get the squirting started

Burn what turbo did you use?

Isn't there a Volvo setup that can be used?  Take the ECU, wiring harness and some sensors.

Search on here for Volvo fuel injection.

Since you're adding a turbo, no matter what you do will require tuning.  If you go with a factory EFI system, you might be able to find a canned tune that works for you, but you might have to make your build fit the tune instead of the other way around.

But if you MS, or any standalone system, your options are wide open.  It's a steeper learning curve, but most people can stumble through it and get a car up and running decently, then find a local tuner for the fine-tuning.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
