Fuel injection project

First of all,  I apologize for the awful pictures.

A few weeks ago I converted my BMW from a Weber carburetor to a Volvo  Bosch LH 2.2 fuel injection using 02 Coasties excellent post.

So far,  the car has been running great,  but I admit one thing.  I hate the looks of the E30 318i intake manifold.  I wanted something more period correct and today at the junkyard in got lucky.

I picked up an early 320i intake manifold similar to the tii manifold, but needed to do something about the injectors. A couple weeks ago,  I picked up a spider injection unit from a 2004 Chevy Astro van with the 4.3 Vortec V6, with the sole purpose of using the injectors and fuel distributor for another project.

The spider injection unit looks like this

It uses the fuel distributor to pass fuel to the individual injectors via high pressure plastic line.  This was an improvement over the original units that used poppet valves which would regularly foul up.

This is what the spider injector looks like next to an early 320i mechanical injector

From everything I've found online about these injectors, they are 19lb high impendence and should work with the Bosch ecu.  They are also(almost) an exact fit into the injector hole on the intake manifold.

The fuel distributor has everything built in to it,  including a fuel pressure regulator.  So the plan is to mount the unit somewhere and use the high pressure plastic line to feed the individual injectors,  thus not needing to run a fuel rail, which wouldn't fit under the intake runners without modification.

I plan on moving along with this project in the next few weeks,  and will keep everyone posted on what I find or if it actually works. If it does,  I will have period looks and a kinda lol modern and reliable fuel injection system.

The only thing I have to do now is adapt an E30 325i throttle body to the intake manifold.  That is going to be the most difficult thing to do.

Thanks for your time!

Any TB that fits will work .

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
