I am actually restoring a 1974 BMW E10 2002. I currently disassembled the rear bumper EURO versión but have not been able to remove the rubber strip that goes along the bumper. At each end it has a nut and a screw that is very rusted, almost welded. The same happens with the rubber on the over-rider. Any ideas on how to remove this bolts without damaging the rubber strip? Thank you

I had the same problem with my 72, I ended up snapping the studs with my impact driver, I didn't think it was a big deal until I removed the trim completely and saw that those studs are very difficult to insert, and they cost about $14/piece. I need eight of them :-(.

The lesson learned - leave it alone, just paint over it, it will hold another 5 years without any issues.

If it's not necessary to disassemble, leave it. If you really have to take it apart prepare yourself buying new rubber, above mentioned reasons.
