It is getting harder to find a short shift kit for a 1972 2002 tii to replace stock 4 speed.   Anyone have a source?

^- Yep, and be ready to say if you have an early or late shifter mechanism. (Get under your car and check, do not go by model dates)  If the selector rod and shift lever are connected by a dowel and set screw then it's an early system.  If the selector rod and shift lever are connected via a circlip and cross pin (which would be a fixed part of the selector rod) then you have a late setup.

aaaaand, I may be wrong.........but ...........u may be able to use a z3 1.9 lever set up......for an oe ssk

weeelllll ...... it will physically fit on a late shifter setup.  However the lever is short enough that you have to lean forward slightly to change gears, and the portion below the pivot ball is long enough that it forces the selector rod into the guibo VERY easily.
