EFI or Dual Webers

This has been a debate for years! What should I do???? The answer to the question lies in your wallet and what you are willing to spend! We can sit here and say I want this and want that but have $10 dollars for it isn't realistic...of course the budget will give you the answer...if you can afford a more hp build you would probably go that route. But most cases or I would say all cases points towards the budget...you want to be as honest as possible with yourself and say what I want to spend and can live with and build to that. M3 blocks and cranks are no longer easy to find or cheap! ITB's and standalone adds to cost. Wiring, fuel system, etc etc etc adds to the cost as well. This is also not calculating in your time and labor and also one off custom bits....there are always unforeseen cost that are never calculated for!!!

So the answer to the question is already answered for your in your wallet!!!

Yes Le will get you taken care of!  I would bet that is one of the fastest streetable M10 motors out there. That's car porn!

Efi would be an entirely different level of execution there. And $$$!

Too many changes to list here compared to what you have currently. 

Efi does not provide a remarkable increase in HP or torque, but if you want better overall driveability in any potential driving condition then Efi is the ticket. 

here in SoCal at sea level and ambient temperatures you should have no issues with your carbs if tuned properly. 

Beautiful build and that would be hard to beat with any other configuration in my opinion.

Of course, it's a dumb thing to do to a STREET engine

purely for STREET purposes, but who cares?

DCOEs are the cheapest option.

EFI is expensive and hard to perfect (for the money you put in)

If you want 175hp and a fat torque curve you need an M20 or M42w/ a turbo. 150hp out of an m10 is easy and relatively cheap, above that it's a whole different ball game and it will turn into a race motor. An m42 with a turbo is a nice package and there a good amount of info on that build. With only 6-10 lbs of boost you'd have a rocket that is less stressed and therefore more reliable. If you want a powerful street car use a street car motor. The cam, and everything else, required for 175hp would not make for a happy street motor.

Very happy with the S10 hybrid engine in my 2002. I wanted to keep the engine looking as 'period correct' as possible. Engine swaps and computer gizmos would yield more umph but I wanted to retain the vintage look & personality. 

My wife Annette says it best: "It's like comparing a wooden roller coaster to a modern modern roller coaster. Without a doubt the modern roller coaster is faster, quieter and smoother. But people still love to ride the wooden roller coasters. The sounds, vibrations, jerks and jolts all add to the experience. Sure a wooden roller coaster may not be as fast, but it's sure a fun ride that can equally scare the crap out of you."

I'm just cleaning up my m10/s14 hybrid also.  Put some compression into it 9.8:1 have a regrind 300deg cam and twin 45's with 36mm chokes.  I have had the relief pockets cut to suit the 304 schrick if the 300regrind is not big enough to feed 2307cc of engine.

 

The engine should be streetable and will probably make 140-150 without headers and when I install headers it  will help it more.  

 

Ill hopefully start it in the weekend sometime. I'm so looking forward to driving it again (over 12 months)

I can tell you from experience, that is one FAST wooden roller coaster.  Head snapping torque!
