Are those 5 1/2 x 13's? I've got 5 of those, and 5, 5x13's.

1300...really? What are you putting them on and with what tires? I've been told the 5 1/2's will rub with just about every tire except stock sizes.

Nick,

They started life as 5 1/2"ers but have been widened to 7".  These are not factory rims.  And I do believe joekitt has flares!

Des,

I've had those same wheels and gave them away.  Now they are becoming more valuable but I'd still say $50 ea. maximum.  More like $25 each to sell quickly IMHO.

I just bought a set of early pre-74 wheels and with media blasting, primer, paint and clearcoat I've spent close to $100 per wheel.

I bought a mismatched set of 5 steelies for $130 a few months ago. Some 5's, some 5 1/2's. I was willing to pay because I already owned another mismatched set that were on my car, and the purchased set gave me 5, 5's dated coded 1974, and 5, 5 1/2's that I plan to use.

He also threw in a nice door mirror, which was worth more than the 5 wheels!

Des,

I still haven't seen enough of your rims to even know their size.  My gut -- entirely un-scientific -- guesstimate of current OEM '02 steel rim prices is as follows, assuming good, un-bent rims:

1.  Round taillight 4.5" x 13, ET35:   Free to $50 each

2.  Round taillight 5" x 13, ET28:   $25 to $100 each (yes, I'm aware there are some $250 asks out there -- how's that going?)

3.  Square taillight 5" x 13, ET29:   $25 to $50 each

4.  e21 5.5" x 13, ET18:   $25 to $50 each

5.  Percent of '02 owners who even notice they're driving their '02 on three 5.5" e21 rims and one 5" '02 rim:   12%

6.  Number of '67 1600-2's I personally acquired with five 4.5" rims but sold with four 4.5" rims and one 5" rim:   1 -- oops!  Hey, it was 1974 and how the hell was I supposed to know the difference!   ?

Regards,

Steve

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
