Broken main rear brake line

Went to get in the car, pushed the brake pedal and alllllllll the way to the floor it went. Put it on the lift, and see that the brake like rubbed on the tranny and now has a huge hole.

I did a five speed conversion many moons ago and think that the new tranny was bigger than the original automatic, and that's why it rubbed raw. Would have never seen it since it was way up in the tunnel above the tranny.

Does anyone have experience making or know what flare kit to purchase to making a new brake line?

I'm open to buying a new one, but was thinking a custom build to keep away from the tranny would be better.

If you buy a new one get the one for the 75 and 76 model year it runs down the side of the car with the fuel return line and avoids the tranny tunnel altogether.

You can certainly make your own if you wish.  You would be after M10x1 bubble flare nuts and a tool that can make the bubble flare.


Thank you to Ken.  I can make a line a couple inches longer, or done to the longer "under-body" length.  If purchasing a pre-made line is something you'd like to do, please let me know.

I had to replace that line on my '76 earlier this year. It had rusted through from the pedal box foam holding moisture along the frame rail..  I bought two 60" pieces from oreilley and a single coupler.  Bent them using the original as a template and it came together oddly well.. been driving on it for months.
