WTB clean E30 bottlecaps locally/SF Bay Area

Hi all-

Yes, I know that bottlecaps went out of style on '02's back in the early '90's, but the set that came on my car need refinishing and simply aren't worth it, and I don't have the $'s to purchase a set of clean BBS RA's or RZ's right now. I'm looking for a really clean set, w/or w/o tires as my tires are fairly new and I would simply transfer them to the cleaner rims. Looking ideally for local pick up in the SF Bay Area so as to not incur shipping costs and to also inspect the rims in person before purchase. I do have a few parts that I can use as trade or partial trade if I have anything that you might need. Any leads are greatly appreciated!

Hi Wendell,

I've got a set if you're interested. 3 are a more recent casting (a PO had H&B in Berkeley install brand new ones about 10 years ago!) and they still look like new. 1 is an older casting with sharper edges that is in good condition with a little curb rash but could look really nice with a coat or 2 of Wurth silver wheel paint. Center caps are perfect on all 4. $175 for all 4 or $150 for the 3 "like new" ones. I'm local, you can PM me for details and pics.

Cheers,

Ryan

Ryan,

Sorry for such a belated response! I'm interested in the 3 clean ones you have but will have to wait a couple of wks. I just replaced my windshield, steam cleaned the whole underside and will be doing exhaust next wk, so I'm tapped out financially until then.

Lemme know if that's cool.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
