1974 2002A for sale in So Cal

Recommended Posts

We are selling the 2002A we bought for our daughter ( she wasn't feeling it :) )  It's been a daily driver by my son & myself for 18 months & is super dependable , We did some paint tidying & she looks great is driver quality , everything works , the auto is great , kick down works too , I did swap out the non working clock for a working Tach , I still have to finish some details like the speedo ( no odometer ) & add the 2nd wiper arm. front seats restuffed & covered, 1 rip in headliner , engine runs great , weber carb, never runs hot , was A/C not any more. Ireland front spoiler , painted the bumper tops for a cool look, front driving lights come on with high beam with a relay. The rear spot is a brake light & is literally brilliant. A great driver easily taken to the next level , can be seen at our shop in Santa Fe Springs . I'll get some under shots this weekend to show floors rockers etc. Lots been done to make her reliable & safe . email me for more pix etc limeworksspeedshop@msn.com or call work at 562 698 1227 if you have any questions. Price is $8995.

Notes, was Chamonix, repainted when we got her, spare wheel well has been repaired by PO , did have a light nudge under the hood on the front clip , has been repaired, this is a driver but a good one. There appears to be no rust in the towers or trunk , front floors or rockers & body appears straight .All the aluminum trim has just been restored & fitted with new clips, that was pricey :) .

Hey Steve,

Too bad you couldn't lure your daughter to the "dark side" of a 2002 fanatic. Kids today!!! :)

My 8 yr old son is drinking the cool aid and thinks my Mint Green "is a cool car". My daughter, she just likes the color... ha, haa

Good luck with the sale!

Regards,

Philip

Life is short, enjoy the ride!

Our daughter needed working A/C etc so she ended up with a 1999 528i so at least she still has a BMW & she loves it .

The roof rack is a keeper sorry but I love it , it's on my 1967 Rover 2000 at the moment .

Cheers

Crap, my mistake. Looked at too many cars in a row - I thought this was a '76.

I am looking for another 2002 project.

I sold my 74 about a year ago to help fund an 04 M3 purchase. The M3 is a a lot of fun to drive and work on but I really miss the 2002 and the 2002 community.

Would you have any pictures of the spare tire, floors and any of the other usual rusty areas you could send?

Just sent my email address to you via PM..

I am just down the road in OC. If pictures look good I would like to drive up and see it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
