Regular South Bay Gatherings?

South Bay Area 02 owners -

With the BMW Cars & Coffee events being far and few between as well as not 02 focused, I'm willing to start owning a few regular events.  The history so far is a few well attended 02s and Eggs in Campbell.  I'd like to expand on this.  Here is what I'm thinking:

02s and Eggs maybe once a quarter

A more regular 02 Cars & Coffee event - less formal and most of us drink coffee

Santa Cruz Mtn drives a couple times a year

02 Slotcar race if my friend ever finishes painting the 02 slotcar bodies I gave him

02s Around the Lake - Yearly drive around Lake Tahoe.  First annual is happening this June 25th.

Group BBQs at local parks

Just a few ideas to see if anyone is game.

I am willing to help organize and possible plan a few of these and we can do this as part of BayAre02.  There used to be monthly meetings.  FAQ has not done any official meeting organizing yet. Personally, my weekends are pretty full, so I like the breakfast or coffee idea as it does not take up too much of people's time.

we can also move it around a bit, up and down peninsula and south bay.  At least for coffee. Just need a few good coffee shops with decent parking

we have this place in Redwood City. Backyard Coffee  http://www.yelp.com/biz/back-yard-coffee-company-redwood-city-2 it is right next to the far end of overflow lot for Caltrain.

There is Chromatic Coffee in San Jose on Steven's Creak next to Harbor Freight. Also has a large lot http://www.chromaticcoffee.com/locations/

Count me in as well-South Bay or Peninsula would work. The Tahoe excursion sounds awesome but I'll be busy celebrating my mom's 70th, so no-go for me this year. Keep us posted though on whatever comes together locally!

Steve -

Thanks.  Even as an "empty nester" my weekends are full.  Morning events are better for me as well.  Let's see what type of responses come back.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
