tii Struts value

Recommended Posts

Hi all, when tii "Struts" are being sold, is that typically the whole strut meaning disc, caliper, tube, plate and spring?  I have a set of '72 tii struts (complete) but the calipers are frozen to the discs.  Is $250 reasonable to sell them?

Thank you.

if there is wear on the inboard bearing surface of the spindle i'd be loathe to pay 3X his initial suggested price query.  at the lower price i'd be more forgiving but as the asking price rises a buyer would be well served to ask for a close up photo of that area.

the spring perch is another area that can rust out and weaken.  that can be dealt with, but worn spindles, not so much...

^ Triple that.

I should have indicated "each", but it's definitely not triple that (well maybe on Ebay it is).  I recently bought a pair for $500, and saw another pair listed at $600.

Definitely not cheap though!

a good deal comes along on eBay once in awhile.  about 2 years ago i got a pair of Alpina struts, calipers and rotors (the ones with the bulge and 'upside down strut insert') for $500, delivered to my house.  the seller posted up some ambiguous photos and i took a chance.  no one else bidded against me.  The rotors are down to 18mm from the original 20mm and a NOS set sold here on the FAQ for $1000 alone about 6 months ago.

Sounds like you got a rockin' deal on that one set, and probably should have picked up the second.

The pricing is most certainly triple.  At least on a professional level.  You will not find a professional shop willing to sell an inspected pair for anything less than 1k.  Call up guys like Patrick O'neil, Ken Blasko, Rob Inhout, Sean Casey, Matt McGinn, Terry Sayther, Matt Rhose, Dave Vaarco, Jack Fahuna, Jeff Tigh, Le Tran, etc.

Ha!  Good to know.  Better go pick up that second set...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
