Asking $17K on Craigslist. More pictures on ebay.

Color is Pastel Blue (a 1974 - 1976 color?)

Is anyone familiar with this car? I was thinking of driving down to take a look.

Thanks-

Tony

The color is Riviera Blue, although the owner/restorer incorrectly placed a pastelblau sticker in the engine bay. Makes one wonder how knowledgeable this person is about their '02. Also, it sports a later ('74-'76) nose...

The owner blames this on a shipping mishap, but I notice the odd gap between the hood and nose, similar to the tii that has been for sale from coast to coast. Is that the result of a misaligned hood or has the nose piece been installed incorrectly?

Looks like the hood to me-if you notice the upper beltline trim on the first pic, it cants upward (very subtlety) a bit on the hood relative to the trim aft of it on the door and trunk. However, it doesn't seem so with the tii that you mention, which has been subject of much debate recently on the faq.

Not sure what that anomaly would speak to other than a misaligned hood, but I'm not a bodyman.

Yep, same pics when it was on Ebay Oct 2013. The Seller stated the car exterior was Atlantik then......go figure. He's owned it 4 yrs & has been trying to sell it for 2.5 that I know of.

Unusual to find a brown interior in a blue car.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
