Body work continues, just little spots here and there. All rust is being media blasted and patch panels made where there is any perforation. Bought new seat covers from GAHH. Back seat will be cleaned and dyed to match.

New upholstery has arrived. Seats are out of the car and old covers are off. One front seat frame has a broken weld that's being fixed. Seats go to upholsterer next week. New exhaust and VSR cats are on, car runs and stops but found an issue with the ECU, it has a connection that needs to be isolated and re-soldered.

Should be getting buffed out soon to asses paint needs. Hood definitely needs to be repainted.

Good progress! Do you have enough room at home for this one?

Currently yes. Herman the KisselKar is in the Wisconsin Auto Museum until June 2017. Vern is headed to Vintage Sports & Restoration very soon for a sympathetic restoration over the winter. When all cars are back home, no, I'm one space short. I'll have to find off site storage for the M3 or M5 during the winter and Unicorn X3 during the summer. I can't fit another lift because of Okie & Herman. Was thinking of building a car port or second garage for the Unicorn X3 but Cindy said no to that.

Seats are out at the upholsterer, having the original shift knob restored too, new exhaust is on. Testing the gauge cluster to see if it just needs new odometer gears or more extensive repairs. New dash will be going in next.

Project has stalled, new dash isn't in yet. All seats are at the upholsterer still. Though working on mine has inspired Mario to work on his.

Seats are back from the upholstery shop. Body work is complete. Will be buffed to determine what needs to be painted aside from the hood.

Vern is not going to VSR as planned. There is just not enough time to complete the work planned before the Mid America '02 Fest 2017. So holding off until 2018.

The dash is going in today 1/19/17. The rear valance rust has been sand blasted and patch panels welded in and primed. Car has been buffed a little to show it's in need of paint on the driver side rear door & quarter, rear valance and hood. There are some dings that will require paintless dent removal. The dye for the leather to match the new GAHH covers has arrived. The rear seat and center console, basically anything that's supposed to be tan will match. Should be in paint within 2 weeks.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
