Door cards!!!!

Haha...

Yes, my pace is modest and simple compared to some others, but I'll get there. Tomorrow I have my suspension kit dropping. Nothing exotic, just the tried and true setup: Bilstein HD's, H&R sport springs and ST sways. After that, 123 ignition, Hella H4's (most likely, unless you have another recommendation) and LED rears.

Big solid yes on H4s. I know I have a few sets of used H4s laying around.

Keen on a set?

Definitely. I just have to wait a bit as the suspension incl. installation is a big ticket item. AND...I've knocked off virtually all my debt, (which has been a long time coming and a major reason as to why I've been moving at a snail's pace w/this project), so I'm hesitant to just start droppin' the duckets like nobody's biznass again.

Struts should be here tomorrow as Blunttech had to source them from another warehouse.

What is it with this car of late? I seem to be attracting the wrong kind of attention...

Have you found it necessary to install a relay as well? Seems to be the consensus amongst some here.

The relays are worth it, but I'm lazy, so haven't done it.

Finally got suspension kit in last wk. Major improvement in handling and ride feel, but I'm already thinking of the IE front sway for even less roll. No highly detailed pics as everything went off w/o a hitch and this is a straight forward and time proven install/upgrade. Rear shock towers looked great too! Now for another steam cleaning after the last of this rain, SS brake hoses and big brake kit.:D

Next on the list to check off...Aardvarc door card kit, new lock grommets and ocello. Also removed grills to replace the dinged up kidney. Grills cleaned up nicely considering their age. I'll probably paint the slats, as the anodizing has faded unevenly.

Door card refurb! One at a time, as I don't want any issues down the road. Interesting to find out that the panels were made exactly 1 month to the day before my car was built!

Also used the new cards as templates for the ocello, which I'll trim down a bit more so it doesn't peek out behind the panels.708502ac529e2fd0e3f8b3d1d7040fce.jpgf89f52213e84f2a57960304b15eccd0e.jpgfda7625546988d4a164d7dd6b7549a1e.jpg74793e936be72a11c629bd7f41c717c4.jpg

Next is Mylar, which makes me a bit nervous. If it doesn't hold there's always aluminum tape I suppose?

Been a LONG time since I've posted, as I'm having larger things done by Motorspeed West as I don't have a decent setup for such things. Regardless, here are some updates since I last posted...

What was left of the original vapor/water barrier and replaced w/new ocello. Door innards were nice & dry:fbd662a27697f2aebddd6f70725b6f02.jpg3778ff45e31d5dab8be5cbfe4f93d8de.jpgc64cd2aa6f7fc150cd6348fbff8220df.jpg3ecf48c54cb307f3ba106f498c8eeae3.jpgbb58c1552326c98d96701a2825c5f318.jpg

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
