Update: I got news earlier tonight that the first four covers have been produced. Per above the first four paid will be the first four shipped. I'm picking up the covers tomorrow afternoon and they should go out on Thursday.

I hope to get an idea of when the next batch will be ready tomorrow as well. Thanks again for everyone's patience!

Folks:

First 4 covers have been packed and will go out this afternoon. You should have received a notification from USPS with the tracking information already.

Mike said he plans to have at least 2 more done by the end of the week, so hopefully more will be in the mail by Saturday or Monday.

If you want to get in on this group buy, please contact me and pay ASAP. Shipping costs have gone up, and while I'll honor the price thru the end of this group buy, the price will go up for the next one or for any individual orders. Group buy ends once I've picked up the last paid order from Mike @ the upholstery shop.

Schoir, jam3422, & LimeySteve : I'm glad they made it there safe and that you like what you see! I hope you get a lot of use out of them! I really appreciate everyone's support for this project.

What is the price?

The group buy price is $220 shipped&insured (send as gift or $229 to cover paypal fees). I'll send you PM with info on how to pay if you'd like one.

All 11 paid covers have shipped as of this past Saturday. BIG thank you to everyone who supported these Aprons. I really hope you get a lot of use and enjoyment out of them!

The Group Buy is officially over, but if anyone would like to buy one please contact me. We've made enough of these now that the guy who makes them said he'll make individuals at a better price than before.

Also, If you have an e30 and would like one of these, I am trying to get an e30 cover in production before The Vintage in NC. My goal is to bring a spare 2002 & e30 cover to vintage, so if you'd like one let me know and you can save on shipping.

THANKS!!!

The Upholster has agreed to 'on demand' production now, but it may cost a few extra bucks since material shipping isn't in spread over a lot of orders. I'll shoot you a message and we can start working on getting you a fresh apron!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
