you're still missing the small plastic parts that fit to the actual mechanism. they make closing the door a lot easier.

Is there a plastic part on the door latch that is missing in the pictures?  My doors seem to work fine when I installed Nung's door strikers, or much better than they did with deteriorated strikers.

There is a piece (actually a type of hard rubber) on the tongue of the latch piece and is held in place by the small roll pin which is hidden by the latch housing, so is impossible to replace in stock configuration even if it were available without destroying the entire latch.  I actually purchased NOS door latches from W&N and had those pieces crumble when I touched them even on a never installed part!  BTW, does anyone have the screws, washers and bushings for the nylon roller?  I purchased a set of Nung's strikers (excellent fit) and still need the hardware.  Please PM me if anyone has them.

You can dismantle and reassemble without destruction, just a lot of work. The german seller of the reproduction pieces recommends cutting them through to the hole where the pin passes through and then clipping them over the pin. I have yet to achieve this! (but have had other priorities).

sent you a PM

Nick, I would also like contact info please.

Yesterday, I went so far as finding the part numbers for these rubber buffers for these and also was trying to find the seller you'd mentioned, but could not find contact info

51 21 6 642 010 - Gummipuffer

51 21 6 642 011 - Gummipuffer

Alex, I noticed that WN still has the passenger side latches pictured with the rubber part in place, so that is good to know that it's not worth buying for the rubber piece alone.

  • 1 year later...

I got two of the latch pads a few years ago from Europe, but they require some work to cut a groove for the cross pin in the latch. I then got some at la Jolla Ind, Carl nelson. Fit perfectly. Also go the buffer things and rollers from europe; seem to be holding up.

Richard - you're also missing the plastic bit that fits on the striker (the claw bit in the middle of your pic).

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
