ATE brake master cylinder washers question

I know the washers are needed under the grommets.  However, on the new master cylinder I just bought the grommets are already in and the washers came in a bag.  Are those extra washers for future use?  Wouldnt make sense to ship it like this if you have to remove the grommets?  Dont want to remove the grommets to check if I dont have to.

Sorry think i answered my own quetsion.  Just pulled the grommets out and there were no washers under them.  Thinking that's where they go.  (#5 below)

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but i'm bringing home a pair of the 205 grommets for my 76.

Washers ARE NOT needed below the grommets? Just curious, I don't see what they would accomplish.. I don't stock them here at the shop, and we have never sold them... we see a lot of 2002s. Can anyone verify this for me?

I should've closed the loop on this.  There WERE washers under the grommets in the old MC i pulled out.  I have no horse in this race!  I had read somewhere that they keep the pipes from bottoming out so to speak.

So did you end up running them? I figure if I pull the grommets out and they're in there I'll run them, if not, I won't lose sleep on them!
