I would go back to previous default. Just an added step every time you search the forums.

I also disagree. Searching Google or Forums yields results. Searching This topic (thread) yields nothing!

I prefer "Google" ... Always gives the most accurate results.

After further reflection, I now see the benefits of the Google search. Just needed to play with it a little.

Sold.

Just to throw my 2cents in (not complaining, just a statement):  I use a popup/add blocker/tracker blocker called Ghostery.  Seems to speed up surfing for some sites (this one included).

Unfortunately, using this and the google search does not work together (prevents that hand off of info if understand).  I can pause blocking, so its not a big deal.

I've gotten used to changing the search criteria, so I will probably continue to change it.  Not a big deal.

And I have found 'search this topic' handy.  Not often, but once in a while.

Couple of tips:

1. Searching on Google: you can search an entire site by using this format (site:bmw2002faq.com adjusting rear brakes). There can't be a space between "site:" and the domain name, then add your keywords. The results will only be of the specified domain.

It's nice that feature is built into the site.

2. Finding content on page: press cmd + F (ctrl + F on PC) to bring up your browsers find functionality. You can then search the entire web page quickly by adding your keyword.

These are helpful techniques when doing research for me.
