WTB Refreshed/good condition Getrag 242

Hi all, I'd like to swap my early 232 for a later 242 with the Borg synchros as an upgrade in serviceability, if not performance. I've seen a couple of parts-car 242s, but I'm interested in ones that have been refurbished or are known to be in good working condition.

I'm in New England, but would be willing to pay shipping if all looks good.

Thanks!

these trans are 40 years old,  rebuilt ? history?  I only sell  rebuilt trans, you can only inspect a transmission out of the case   Bruce M-truner

I do know the history of this transmission as I just removed it from my driving 1976 2002 to do a 5 speed conversion. It shifts fine and does not make any noises. I would replace the front and rear seals (not leaking just old), put in new oil and install it.

It is good to know that someone is rebuilding these transmissions. What is the cost if it doesn't need anything major? I was a BMW tech in the 70's in So Cal and rebuilt many of these back in the day. With the right tools and knowledge they are pretty easy to rebuild.
