I was thinking about colors and I think you've convinced me with black

Hi There! Thanks for the comment... Just letting you know from experience, black is the most hardest color to paint... the preparation work is ridiculously time consuming!  Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's how we behave while we're waiting. So if it doesn't kill you, I say do it!  ;)

 looks real good.........single stage???

Base and clear! This one is a driver! ;-)

Looks great Lisa. Where are you getting the body and paint work done? Is Le doing it, or is this one of his vendors in SoCal? Regardless, looks really nice, so congrats.

Thanks so much! Le is working exclusively with a body/paint professional who has done his 02s and E9's. This guy's work is stellar! Only his eyes and hands on the car... the quality is evidence in his work. I'm very pleased.

black is the most hardest color to paint

PAINTING something black's not so hard.  It's getting the body absolutely straight so it looks perfect, that's the real challenge!

(well, and then you have to wash it every time a breeze blows through, but that's another story.

After 17 years, Jenn's dark purple car is about ready for a respray, and she's thinking it should go black this time too.  And your pics are pretty convincing...

Lisa, the car is absolutely beautiful.

I can imagine it in my mind with the petri sports steering wheel, custom seats with grommets, and BBS style wheels you have chosen. A very beautiful holistic combination. As mentioned before I have great admiration for your attention to detail, patience and willingness to do the job correctly. My inner adolescent can rarely achieve this level of patience- and gentle waiting.

sincerely, Peter

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
