2015 Bay Area 2002 - Not the 49 Mile Scenic Drive

On Saturday the Bay Area 2002 hosted the 2015 Not the 49 Mile Scenic Drive. We had an excellent showing of eclectic people and cars. Everything from beautiful originals to a resto-mod square tail with motorcycle carbs.

Larry Ayers organized the drive through the city and for the past few years I have had the privilege of designing the route.

The point of the drive is to experience a part of San Francisco you normally wouldn't see, while hanging out with other 2002 owners from all over the Bay Area.

If you'd like to do the rally yourself, feel free to download the directions and photokey below:

Lots of photos below, beginning with the pre-rally park ferme and ending with pictures I took along the route.

Enjoy!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed I missed this!!!

I did everything I could to get Sterling rolling and then the first major NorCal event I am could possibly run, my favorite (bucket list) event I have to pass on for family vacation...

I vote that this event could be held much more frequently than once, even twice or quarterly in the Bay Area.

PLEASE, lets do it again in March or April!!!

If I have to volunteer to coordinate I will! Dmanit, I WILL!!!!

Let's ride...

Great pictures!  We salt belt folks are jealous--although so far we've had unusually warm (and snow-free) weather in the east and midwest...so 02's are still on the road.

With gas prices down, I even treated Ludwig to some 93 octane gas instead of his usual diet of 91...and got a thumbs up from a M-B driver at the gas station.

Hey Burndog, BayArea 02 is open to more drives and March is a good time frame (note that Swap & Show-16 is on 7 May).  Although re-runing this particular rally is not a good idea in 2016, I have some past routes that might work. Or we can try other drives around the Bay Area-- there are lots of options.  Let me know what you have in mind!

Hi Mike--

Here in California we're jealous of your 93 octane premium.   Chevron et al tells us that 91 octane, which I consider very good regular, is premium.   Of course, they add plenty of Techron (at a CCA tech session a while back we saw, among other things, some M10 engines they use to verify compliance to the BMW detergency test; they were being rebuilt between tests) but the moderate octane reduces timing and fuel economy options.
