What?  Seats out of the Ferrari.  I got a quote from a guy down by Chimney Rock/59.  Going to get another quote this week.

Shopping around.  Right now, looks like everyone just orders the kit from Gahh and installs it.

Engine lid off today.  Took the air cleaner off, and now I'm just looking at the carbs.  Took lots of pictures, and then put everything up.  If I have time, will try and pull all carbs off next weekend.

On Mid-America -

No.  Running out of vacation already.  Mama has big plans with both kids going to camp for 3 weeks this year.

On carbs - Ha ha.

I'm so intimidated that I'm going to get things apart and not get them back together.

Spent 3-1/2 hours today working on carb removal.  Pulled two of them, the other two are only on by one bolt, which is really hard to get a wrench on.  I've actually ordered a new wrench to try.

The difficult ones are right under the float bowl on a DCNF, and have some type of obstruction by them so I can't get the wrench in there.

Tried and tried.  Going to give up for the day.

Frustrating.

E90 is still apart in the driveway. There's one vent line at the rear of the intake which I haven't been able to wrangle off yet. The snips may come out soon...

It's blocking the E24 so I'm daily driving the M2. Heh...

Cheers,

Ray

Sounds like you need one of those old distributor wrenches for the old Chevy's.

That job was such a PITA without the proper wrench...

One can never have too many tools, right?

Well - the way the nuts are under the float bowl and next to stuff, it's just hard to get the standard wrench on them.

Here's what I have now:

Just got it in the mail today.  About $30 bucks on e-bay (vs 50 new from Snap-on).  I have one of these in 11 mm size, and it is fantastic.   One end is at 15 degrees like a standard wrench, but the other end is at 60 degrees.  I think this will do the trick.

On top of that - my final thing I did before covering the car up, I put a few squirts of Kroil on the nuts.  Hopefully they will come right off now.

Will report back later.

Reminds me of the mess blocking the E24 now. I did manage to pull the intake today finally...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
