My wife is a secretary. On Secretaries day she usually gets flowers and lunch from her boss.
I say we start a new movement- all you vets, whip out your DD214 and start waving it around. Lets take OUR day off.
we gotta work - should be the other way around.
One of the product mgr's where I worked years ago was an ex USAF KC 135 tanker pilot - he arranged for all of us who were ex military to take a couple of hours off-site for breakfast each year. It wasn't a day off, but at least it was a little recognition.
BTW, my stint was USN '65 to '69, including about two years with MCB7 (Seabees), mostly in beautiful SE Asia.
Thanks to all of you who recognize vets.
Even if I might not agree with some political views or patriotic fevrer, I STILL fly my flag on Veterans Day.
