That is from the "turbo from hell" album on the other board...what is the part under the turbo, looks like a vibration damper/movement limiter, like on the 320...

Is this something factory only on the turbo??

Is that the exhaust pipe coming out the far end? How about a wastegate-type thing or something related?

No, it looks realy like a mini shock absorber like on the 320, mounted on the same braket of the engine mount.

The part is not rusty at all, look to be fuly coated with oil/grease...and black...maybe the only part on this car that is not rusted lol...It is verticaly mounted, and is like 3/4 id, there is a nut on the top end, like a 13mm one.

I run one on my A4. I can take pictures of a clean one if you like.

Basically is is a charged hydraulic cylinder which resists the tendancy for the motor to rock.

Definately a factory part.

Ive seen many 02 in my life, no ones was having it...only my 1983 320i and my 1979 320.
